In 2019,  Erès Editions, with its collection “Pratiques du champ social”, publishes this book by Aude Béliard: “Des familles bouleversées par la maladie d’Alzheimer – Variations sociales”.

It explores the differentiated investments of categories and medical devices related to Alzheimer’s disease, and identifies their social contexts. Aude Béliard conducted a major sociological study, which provides a better understanding of the Alzheimer’s disease place and meanings ; it also reveals social differentiations which are very real but not very apparent in public discourse. Medical practices differ depending on the patient, life with the disease itself deeply differs  according to the people’ resources, their social environment and surroundings. Alzheimer’s disease is a challenge that reveals and crystallizes social inequalities.
